Going Garbage & Recycling Inc. (GGRI) is locally-owned and operated and has been serving Door County from Sturgeon Bay to Gills Rock since 1963.

Going Garbage Environmental Speaker Series 2008

GGRI in response to both a variety of questions that the company routinely receives about issues such as recycling, hazardous waste, and composting - as well as taking interest in many environmental issues that have the ability to affect Door County communities and their families, Going Garbage and Recycling Inc of Sister Bay has formed an Environmental Speaker Series. The series will be held in the Sister Bay Fire Station in Sister Bay on the second Wednesday of every month, January through May at 7:00 pm.

Do You Know …

  • Recycling saves energy. If you recycle a six-pack of aluminum cans, you would save enough energy to drive a car for 5 miles! Recycling a glass bottle would save enough energy to light a 100-watt bulb for 4 hours.
  • Between 1990 and 2000, Americans wasted more than 7 million tons of aluminum cans. That’s enough aluminum to manufacture 316,000 Boeing 737 airplanes, or to reproduce the world’s entire commercial air fleet 25 times. Imagine how much landfill space we could save by recycling all those cans.
  • Recycling also helps prevent pollution. For example, recycling paper instead of making it from new material generates 74 percent less air pollution and uses 50 percent less water.
